Artisan Baking Community
On 22/06/13 Earth Doctors launched the idea of starting a Community Bakery in Wylam, Northumberland at the local village fair. Over 100 residents signed up to say they would be interested in the project either as volunteer or consumers of the bread. We are now baking real bread in communities across the North East and have changed our name to reflect this. We are now called Artisan Baking Community.
Real Bread Sales
artisan baking Community has now become a regular feature in the village of Wylam, with weekly bread sales at the Falcon Centre, Wylam every Saturday morning from 09:00 - 12:00. We believe we are the only bakery in Britain based in a library!
We currently sell our breads at Staithes Food Market Jesmond Food Market (3rd Saturday) and Newcastle Grainger street market (next one 03/02/17) and others.
SELLING BREAD IN WYLAM LIBRARY WORKING ACROSS COMMUNITIES
We have over 15 volunteers taking it in turns to produce the bread every Friday.
We now produce a great range of products including:

Pan Rustique (plain ; mediterranean; olive ; tomato)

Flavoured sourdoughs (including beer; rosemary; caramelised onion, potato and fennel ;tomato)

5 grain; light wholemeal ; sleepless white; Rye.
